READING LIBERIA is a program through which books for Liberian children are being written by Liberian authors and Liberia’s teachers are being trained how to use them effectively in their classrooms.
I was asked in December 2008 to participate. The program was spearheaded by the We Care Foundation in Liberia and is sponsored by CODE.
I have blogged about my experiences in Liberia. (I went in 2009, 2010, and 2011.)

I have also written several articles:
- Summer 2009 for IBBY-Canada, the organization that put my name forward
- Spring 2010 for CANSCAIP
- Summer 2010 for the Canadian Children’s Book Centre.
In 2011, I wrote a piece about my work in Liberia for Truth Perceived, a high school anthology of non-fiction to be published by McGraw-Hill Ryerson in 2012.
I’m hoping to continue supporting the work of Liberian writers through “Laptops for Liberia” – an initiative designed to match up the likely availability of used laptops here in Canada and the dire need for them in Liberia.
